Additional costs not addressed · Food will probably vary; when we travel, we like to get
recommendations from the concierge or host. This works out wonderfully
because we find really small, local, and intimate restaurants. Sometimes
those meals are fancy, but we are foodies. We wouldn’t have a “fancy” meal
every night, maybe once during a week of travel. Also- doner kebab is good
and its cheap and you can find it everywhere |
Additional costs not addressed · Some of these museums are closed right now due to
COVID-19, so it is hard to find the price of admission. · Gifts for people- we tend to travel light, so we usually
send post cards because we don’t have the room to pack extra items · Taxis/rideshare services- we walk around a lot but
sometimes I need a taxi at the end of the day. This hopefully won’t cost much
extra, but it’s worth it to me when you’ve walked miles and miles in the day |
Additional costs not address · I understand that these are not the cheapest places to
visit, but I would like to visit all of these countries one day. I may not
put them all on one trip. I feel like I held back on some things I’d really
like to do- like snowmobiling tours or going to see the Northern Lights
tours- things like that. However, those get pricey. We try to budget, but
sometimes we book a tour spur-of-the-moment or splurge on a nicer hotel. · I probably wouldn’t hold myself to such a strict travel itinerary.
Some places we really enjoy, and will stay an extra day or two. We find
lodging along the way to the next destination. When I travel alone, I drive
for as long as I want and I call my husband to book a hotel for me. It’s an adventure,
right? A little unknown is fun. · Safety factored heavily into my choices for this trip. I
wouldn’t likely travel for 3 weeks alone, maybe 7-10 days. I’d do my best to
keep situational awareness at night, but I’m not super comfortable traveling
alone at night. However, these countries are rated as very safe. |

Clothing packing list · I think adding a clothing packing list would be pretty
important to an itinerary, just to keep track of what you have with you · I’d want to keep this to a large hiking-type backpack. Because
it’ll be cold in October, I’d like to have a down packable coast and layer as
much as possible with items like merino wool. Don’t skimp on packing clean
undies and socks, but 1-2 pairs of pants, a couple of shirts, and like 1 “nice”
shirt for going to a dinner. · Don’t bring jewelry. I’d be upset if I lost anything, so I
wear a silicone wedding ring when I travel |
· Shoes- here is where this gets important. You want
comfort, but you don’t want to look like too much of a tourist (meaning
tennis shoes.) I’d try to find a nice pair of heavy duty leather boots, make
sure they are broken in nicely. · Your packing list would also heavily depend on the
weather. I’d look up the weather about a week out of my trip and plan
accordingly. Would want some sort of rain slick in case it rains, something ultra-packable.
Maybe a super small umbrella. Those boots should probably be weather-proofed
before you go. |
· Weather would be a huge factor for what you do day-to-day.
If it’s raining, a lot of people will be inside, so maybe you find a smaller
museum to go to so it won’t be so crowded. · Consider journaling. You aren’t very good at it to begin
with because you forget, but this could be a very memorable trip. You’ll have
time on trains/busses/ferries whatever while you’re in transit. · You’re not really a camera person, just use your phone · HUGE TIP- Ulmon City Maps 2 go app- this is a life saver. You
can download maps offline for the cities you’ll be visiting. Worked great in
London, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, other places you’ve been to · I also feel like I chose a lot of the things I did because
of convenience, which there isn’t anything wrong with that. The city passes
that allow you into a lot of different attractions really appeal to me
because I can go see as much as possible in short time. If I am ever able to
take this trip, I’m not sure when I’d be able to go back. I’d want to make
sure to see many different sights /attractions/ museums. Might not be the
most economical to some, but I don’t necessarily have to stick to an
absolutely “shoestring” budget. |
